This was created during the Paint the Town paint out in Marble Falls, Texas. We found a private spot  on a cul-de-sac overlooking the river. We were there to paint the sunset and this was a warm up. I painted this with a palette knife and swift strokes. It is available for purchase. $150.00

This was painted plein air on Neri Road in Granbury, Texas. This is the perfect time of the to get outside and paint. It's also time for a lot of shows and festivals.  I will be participating in the "Paint the Town" paint out in Marble Falls, Texas. Saturday, April 15, 16, 17, 2011  The reception is on Saturday, April 16 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, we will have our Patron Preview Party for artists, sponsors and patrons beginning at Riverbend Fine Art, 710 1st St, and continuing to the Paint the Town exhibit space at 205 Main St for the presentation of awards. Complimentary appetizers and beverages will be served. Patrons must have a ticket to attend.

I painted this yesterday morning on a nice back road outside of Glen Rose, Texas.  I called one of my local friends to find out where the bluebonnets were and her husband directed us to this sweet spot.  It was a quite and peaceful setting. The only traffic we saw were a car and a few bicycles.

This was another study completed in the Jill Carver workshop this week. We painted behind the Boyce Feed and Grain Corporation in Waxahachie, Texas. This grain yard was full of activity and a great place for the value study Jill was teaching.  I can't wait to get out and practice all she taught us. She packed a lot of information in the three day class.

I painted this at a Jill Carver plein air workshop in Waxahachie, Texas. She is a skilled and talented teacher. She packs a lot of information in her workshops. If you ever get a chance to take from her I would jump at it.  The main lesson on this day was recognizing and applying the right value.  The gray grain towers against the gray day was perfect for this.

We have painted in this area outside Granbury many times, but never went down this road. We were thrilled to find this location. It was a quite country road with no traffic and so peaceful. This was on a fall morning at the Botanical Gardens in Ft. Worth. I was attracted to the dying foliage and changing leaves. They were glowing in the morning sun. This was painted with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

I painted this plein air in Grapevine, Texas. We had a gathering of the Outdoor Painters Society on Saturday. There must have been over thirty painters there. The weather was outstanding, reaching 80 degress. I have painted a number of old vehicles and it sure helps when you are out on the streets painting. It was great to get outside and enjoy the warm winter day.

This was painted from the banks of the Brazos River in Granbury. I really ramped up the color with this one and I love it. The winds were very gusty and knocked over my Easy L pallet, brushes, painting and all went splat. This painting comes with more sand texture that originally intended.

I painted this in the Paluxy area just outside of Granbury. This section of the road is part of one big flat rock. This makes it easy to work out of the back of your car and not be in danger of passing cars. You can drive up and park anywhere.
I like how this stream leads the eye to the distance hills and brightly colored trees. The colorful trees are fading fast and I was happy to be outside painting them. This was painted with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.
