This pastel was selected for the Pastel Society of Colorado’s annual international show held this August at the MADDEN Museum in Greenwood Village, Colorado. It is always a thrill to have a painting selected for this show – always humbling when I view the other pastels!! To view more of my work, please visit my website at http://www.barbarachurchley.com.

I love to have artists come for a getaway to our high altitude ranch in western Colorado. We ride around in an old camouflaged Bronco with no doors, roof or windows, but with plenty of room for the art gear! The ranch is loaded with aspens – I only put a few of them in this painting! This painting is another in my series of 6x6 paintings. I painted this from a field just outside Hotchkiss, Colorado with some fellow artists. It was a brisk morning, but warmed up as we painted. To view more of my work, please visit my website at http://www.barbarachurchley.com.

This was a larger plein air piece, completed “alla prima”, or all at one time. We have some beautiful ranches in western Colorado, quiet, secluded. A great place to paint. To view more of my work, please visit my website at http://www.barbarachurchley.com.
