Jimmy Longacre_subjective realist landscape paintings_WINTER'S MESSENGERS

Some of the preparation for my upcoming show at the Art Center of Corpus Christi, in June, has been to reconsider past work to hopefully get some of the paintings where I would like for people to see them.  Basically, that usually involves trying to design a more coherent composition, and work with the color to enhance the harmonies.  For the most part this process has been a fun and satisfying exercise.  I would recommend it to any plein air painter with a back-log of paintings, and sufficient elapsed time to allow you to see them anew.  You can't give your work this kind of intense scrutiny and remedial care without learning important lessons, making new discoveries and raising the level of your experimentation.
