Painting in the morning at Bartlett Lake in Arizona a saguaro plein air oil painting, the backlit cactus contrasts against the light on the lake. After being at the Celebration of Fine Art for 10 weeks, I finally got out and painted on location. It was wonderful seeing and painting the spring flowers. I placed the dark backlit saguaro cactus against the light of the lake. Because it was morning, the sky was a warm color with the yellow and red.
