Snug Harbor Cannery, Alaska by Jill Randall

Oil on Raymar Panel 8”x 10”
My husband (a commercial salmon setnet fisherman) and I spend five months in Alaska each year.  We spend June, July, and August on a commercial setnet beachsite in a remote area where there is no phone service.  We use a satellite phone which cost about a dollar a minute which limits our calls.  We are on the property of the Porter family who bought Snug Harbor Cannery which has not functioned as a cannery since 1972.  This year I had time to do some paintings there.  This plein air painting was painted of the generator shed and the broiler building.  We are back in Anchor Pt., Alaska and back on the “Grid” so now I can post.
